My new nickname is "Dangerous Side-Arm, as I sidearmed the tennis ball 20 feet. On the first day of Special Olympics practice at that!!!!!! I thought of myself as a baseball player, playingfor the Chicago Cubs and POUNCING all over the St. Louis Cardinals. Imagining that really helped me to WHACK the tennis balls through the air and go hurling as fast and as far as I possibly could for the very first day of Special Olympics practice. I attempted to through the tennis balls straight; unfortunately, theyseemed to have minds of their own and want to curve more to the left or to the right. At least once, the ball did hit the roof. The coaches told me to try throwing the tennis balls backhanded, which worked out a lot better- the balls actually went straight.
I was then told that my practice session was over for today, and I didn't have to practice anymore. Done, I thought. Something's going on here. I later found out that the original plan all along was for me to try two events, even though I'd just been told that being in two events would probably be too exhausting for me. As long as the events weren't within seconds or minutes of each other, I didn't see much of a problem. I could take a rest in between my two events without wearing myself out too fast.
I tried the 25-meter assisted walk for the very first time today. I was a bit nervous at first, thinking I might accidentally burst into a run. Luckily, I imagined chasing after someone and outwalking them to keep focused on the goal at hand. I walked the race in 21.38 seconds and 20.81 seconds. This is definitely excellent for a first-timer to an event like this.
I hope I've inspired you to go walking every day. If you keep practicing, you may want to try a marathon some day. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I can do as well in this new event as I know I'm already quite capable of doing with the tennis ball throwing competition, which I am going to try next week with a softball. Wow, that should be interesting.

WIBi's A Positive Start to Your Day with Lori and Jeremiah

How has WIBI and A Positive Start to Your Day with Lori and Jeremiah inspired you?
Inspire you to give Jeremiah a hard time? Of course he ABSOLUTELY needs someone like the two of us, Lori, to keep him on his toes. You've inspired me to try new things- like answering the Impossible Question. As you do the question early, I get a chance to think about the answer while I'm getting dressed everymorning. The one question about who you'd hate to leave at home if you are going on vacation, I rushed to my cell phone as fast as I could- snatching it out of my purse. I was just a second too late to give the answer.
Hey, this year will be my 2nd year doing Special Olympics. I will be partiipating in the Tennis Ball Throw competition, an event that I took gold in County, but lost at State. I am going to try to redeem myself this year- don't want to get knocked out by kids who may be a bit younger than me. This time around, I have every intention of doing 100% better than last year.
